✦ We visited
The indoor barn was a lifesaver on a wet day, and the tractor ride is the bit our kids still talk about. Check the activity board on arrival and time your visit around the animal feeds.

Roves Farm sits between Swindon and Highworth and works as a full family day out built around farm animals and play. Children feed and meet sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, chickens and small furries, and there are tractor-and-trailer rides around the farm through the day. Daily activity timetables mean there is usually something happening, from animal feeds to grooming sessions.

There is a good mix of indoor and outdoor play, so it copes with British weather. Expect a large indoor play barn, sand and water play, climbing and slides, and outdoor adventure areas with plenty of room to run. The farm is best known locally for its big seasonal events, including the Easter and Christmas programmes and the autumn maize maze, which are ticketed separately.

It suits babies through to primary-age children, with the youngest enjoying the animals and soft play and older ones getting more from the outdoor adventure spaces.

Good for: animals, outdoors, sensory. Ages: 0–2, 3–4, 5–7, 8–11.
