Science Oxford
Hands-on science centre in Oxford with interactive exhibits and an outdoor woodland exploration zone.
Science Oxford is an interactive science centre on the edge of Oxford, built for children to learn through play and experiment. The indoor exhibition is full of hands-on exhibits to push, pull, build and test, covering forces, light, sound and the way things work, with live science shows and demonstrations that bring big ideas to life. It is busy, noisy and exactly what curious children enjoy.
Outside there is a five-acre Exploration Zone, a woodland and meadow space with trails, dens, mud play, climbing and outdoor experiments, so a visit mixes indoor discovery with proper outdoor exploring. That balance makes it a strong all-weather option and lets children burn off energy as well as use their brains. Pre-booking is usually needed and it opens on selected days and through the holidays.
It suits toddlers up to primary age best, with the hands-on exhibits and woodland pitched at younger children. Check the calendar and book ahead, and bring wellies for the outdoor zone.
Good for: sensory, rainy-day, outdoors. Ages: 3–4, 5–7, 8–11, 12+.
